Wow, I really like the template. Very alluring and the vertical focus as opposed to being more horizontal makes blogs or heavily text-based sites much easier on the eyes from my experience. I'm not sure what your idea was but someone functioning as an editor going from the forum to the blog might be ideal as well. Whether it be formatting, grammar, or if there's a high level of redundancy or content that's oriented to speaking about affairs on the forum, that perhaps those could be removed. As is would still be fine though I think, I don't think anyone writes anything too egregiously out of context.
I also would vote for your post on concentric models to be posted up there, that was really good content. Perhaps bending the rule and putting high-grade runner ups on the blog as well might do well. Whatever we decide this is a great step though, I see it as taking content from the workshop (the forum) and putting it on display in a more aesthetic manner would be motivating for people to work harder.

Love it, love the blog. Great stuff.
I thought the homepage picture of the Feherlofia poster was a bit squished/not as elongated from top to bottom as in the true representation on the article page.

In general the blog looks fantastic.
I agree strongly with slota above about the fact that the text being in a thin vertically-oriented belt as opposed to horizontal across the screen is easier on the eyes because it reduces the eye movement required to read the text.
Also I like the color scheme and think you should keep using white text on black background, which is nice and also probably easier on the eyes than black on white. It has made me start to think that all black-on-white text on the internet is actually criminal.
