Man in the High Castle.
BAP recently discussed Man in the High Castle. The alternative history show that depicts America after an Axis Victory. It's an incredible show that shows what life in a fascist state might look like.
BAP was right to point out that John Smith's son would have been sterilized and not euthanized. They could build whole army units of such people that would have no families and committed 100% to the Reich.
Contrast John Smiths son with a Christian Martyr? Smith's son gave himself up and died voluntarily knowing that the collective would be stronger. The Christian martyr dies believing they will be rewarded in heaven for eternity. Smith's son died, not for eternal bliss but that the Reich would live on. That is more impressive to me than the Christian.
It's important in any future polity, when crafting eugenics policies, to be as Christian as possible. Euthanization should be rare; sterilization, or limits and/or incentives for reproduction are the main tools.
The scenes inside the Nazi Church were extremely interesting. The pastor was called the "Orator." He gave sermons and they sung hymns. There's no reason why there couldn't be responsive prayer type chants as well. They referred to the Reich as the "eternal Reich." This seems like arrogance to me; like you're tempting the Fates to trip you up. Perhaps there are great benefits to this kind of positive collective self talk?
Another aspect of the show worth considering is all the scheming and treachery by the Nazis at each other. Towards the end when Smith and his partner in Germany killed the whole German High Command, it really brought home how destructive the quest for personal power can be. A truly eternal, or at least very long lasting Reich will require checks and measures in place so that too much treachery won't swamp the whole enterprise.
It will have to vet for people more committed to the greater project than to their own vainglory.
Amazon is soon premiering a new original series that also has a Nazi theme. This one appears to depict post-WWII Nazis, and the "hunters" chasing after them. Al Pachino is playing what appears (from the previews) to be a Jewish fellow. I find it interesting that Amazon would create another Nazi show and able to get one of the greatest actors of all time to play in it.
It could be that Yahr Null is closer than we know?
